Aromatherapy/Essential Oils
What Are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are the subtle, aromatic and volatile liquids extracted from the flowers, seeds, leaves, stems, bark and roots of herbs, bushes, shrubs, and trees, through distillation. According to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, priests and physicians were using essential oils thousands of years before Christ. Aromatherapy offers more than just fragrance. Essential oils produce remarkable actions upon animals – and the actions are immediate, profound and long-lasting, positively affecting their overall health and emotional well-being.
Many pet owners and animal care providers have turned to Pure, Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oils made by Young Living to use in place of toxic and harmful ingredients commonly found in pet products. The founding members of the Veterinary Medical Aromatherapy Association (VMAA) use Young Living exclusively in medical practice and teach veterinarians and pet professionals how to discern between fragrance grade and medical grade oils. We are members of the VMAA, ascribing to their protocols and teachings. Young Living's oils are the only oils that meet their specifications. Therefore we do not recommend any other brands as they may actually do harm to animals when diffused or applied to skin.

The first major nerve in the body that enters the brain actually detects scent. That nerve — and the information it carries — connects directly to the base of the brain where immediate responses occur. including strong emotions.

Essential oils and the immune system:
When the immune system and the organs that house it are weak and/or compromised, it is going to have a lower energy/vibrational frequency than a strong, vital immune system has. Animals have measurable frequencies just as humans do. Clinical research shows that essential oils have the highest electrical/energetic frequency of any natural substance known to man and when used in conjunction with the laws of health/nature, they have the ability to create an environment in which dis-ease, cannot thrive. In addition, Young Living Essential Oils contain synergistic biological activity to support body systems that are out of balance.
One of the best books available to learn how to use Essential Oils effectively and safely on animals is The Animal Desk Reference published by Life Science Publishing. We recommend purchasing this book to learn more about how they work with various species including dogs, cats, reptiles, horses, bird and sensitive species such as pocket pets.
