As a pet parent, I have spent a great deal of time learning to read product labels.  I have learned that dogs have exquisitely sensitive olfactory systems, making them extremely sensitive to damage from harmful chemicals that are contained in so many household products on the market today.  In the United States, you will find products that are banned in other more enlightened countries.  Many are "greenwashed", a term that means a product appears on the surface to be healthy and natural; but if you flip the container over to read the ingredients, there are toxic ingredients inside.  Products like Simple Green Carpet Cleaner, for example, rated "D" for respiratory concern, skin allergies, reproductive and developmental toxicity, and impact on the environment.  Who knew?
