Fenugreek is traditionally used to increase milk supply in bitches. This is an important item to have on hand in every whelping kit in case your bitch's milk does not come in well. As with all of our products, Fenugreek comes with instructions for dosing for bitches needing better milk production.

Dosing for humans: 2 capsules with water

Dosing for dogs:

Dosing for dogs is a bit dependent on the situation and size of the bitch. There are no studies on the amount of Fenugreek to give to a bitch. But since it is a food supplement and considered to be quite safe, there is some leeway on the amounts we can safely administer. Your goal is to give enough Fenugreek to cause the breath and milk of the bitch to smell like maple syrup. Sometimes the odor is strong enough that when you walk into the room, you can smell it!

For very small dogs like Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Maltese, start with a single 610 mg capsule, opened and sprinkled on food. GIve it with breakfast and again with lunch. Before each dose, check her breath and general odor. If she does not have a maple syrup fragrance, add a bit more to her next meal. Usually one to two capsules given morning, noon and night will bring in milk on a toy dog.

For a medium sized dog, you may have to administer three capsules morning, noon, and night.

For a very large dog, you may have to administer as many as five capsules.

Two to three hours after each dose, check for the odor of maple syrup. When the bitch's breath has a strong smell of syrup, the dose is right. Usually there are no side effects, but occasionally the fenugreek may cause vomiting. Once milk production is well established, wean her down. If milk production decreases, go back to the same dosing.

If you are using loose powder, equate one capsule to approximately 1/4 tsp of loose herbal powder.

Ingredients: Fenugreek Seed (Trigonella foenum gracecum). Common names: Greek hay, foenugreek,fenigreek.

If provided in capsules, Vegetable Capsule Ingredients: Pullulan, water, carrageenan, and potassium chloride. Loose powder products have no additional ingredients. They are 100% unadulterated herbs.
