FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Understanding Nosodes and Natural Immunity
What are nosodes? Are they vaccines?
Nosodes are homeopathic remedies made from disease-related
materials (like secretions or tissues), then diluted and potentized until no
physical trace remains. They are non-toxic, safe, and used to support the
body’s natural defenses.
Nosodes are not vaccines in the conventional sense. They
contain no chemicals, preservatives, or live viruses. Instead of triggering an
antibody response, they work by delivering an energetic imprint of the disease,
prompting the body to recognize and respond naturally.
They can be used:
- Preventively (called homeoprophylaxis)
- Therapeutically (as a remedy if symptoms appear)
Unlike injections, nosodes are given orally—placed on the
gums or inside the lip. They’re sweet-tasting and easy to administer, even to
puppies and pregnant females.
How are nosodes different from vaccines?
Vaccines introduce killed or modified viruses along with
adjuvants and preservatives to provoke an immune response. This can disrupt the
developing immune system and contribute to chronic issues like allergies,
anxiety, or autoimmune disease.
Nosodes:
- Do not contain pathogens or chemicals
- Do not provoke inflammation or immune confusion
- Work energetically, not biologically
- Are safe for all life stages, including pregnancy
They are part of a holistic immunity protocol, not a
stand-alone solution. For best results, combine nosodes with:
- Raw, species-appropriate nutrition
- Controlled natural exposure
- Immune-supportive supplements
- Minimal chemical interference
Can nosodes replace vaccines?
Nosodes offer a gentler, safer alternative to conventional
vaccines, especially when paired with natural immunity-building practices.
While they are not legally recognized as vaccine substitutes, many holistic
breeders and veterinarians report excellent results.
Clinical studies in humans show nosodes can be effective for
homeoprophylaxis. In dogs, we see strong anecdotal evidence and growing
interest—but more formal research is needed.
Bottom line: Nosodes work, especially when used consistently
and thoughtfully. Since we have ample evidence of their efficacy in humans, they deserve serious consideration and further study. How do I build natural immunity alongside nosodes?
Here’s a simple protocol used by holistic breeders:
1. Start either combo nosodes or individual remedy nosodes weekly from weaning until 7–9 months of
age.
2. When maternal antibodes are waning, begin controlled
natural exposure:
- Visit a busy dog
park.
- Let the puppy
sniff around for 2–5 minutes.
- Pick up and go
home.
- Repeat weekly,
gradually increasing time.
3. Read our book Creating Immunity Without Vaccinations eBook
for a detailed protocol based in science and experience in the breeding
community.
4. After 3–4 exposures, consider a titer test to confirm titer
levels if desired.
This method mimics how wild canids build immunity—through
gentle, real-world exposure supported by energetic remedies and nutrition.-
Are nosodes safe?
Yes. Nosodes are:
- Free of live pathogens
- Non-toxic and non-invasive
- Safe for puppies, pregnant females, and sensitive dogs
Occasionally, a dog may show a temporary energetic response
(like mild lethargy or digestive change). This is usually short-lived and part
of the healing process.
How do I give a nosode?
- Place 1 pellet directly on the gums or inside the lip
- Or dissolve in spring water and give via dropper
- Give away from food (15–30 minutes before or after)
- Avoid touching the pellet—use the cap or a clean spoon
Can I use multiple nosodes at once?
Use one nosode at a time. If using individual nosodes (e.g.,
Parvo, Distemper, Kennel Cough), space them day apart, but keep each on a
weekly schedule.
How do I choose which nosode(s) to purchase?
If you are using classical homeopathy, select the individual nosodes you wish to use or buy our nosode kit (coming soon). If you or your health practitioner uses blended remedies, you can select the Combo nosode. There are different protocols depending upon classical homeopathic principles and blended homeopathic principles. We have used both quite successfully in our own program.
NOTE: Our homeopathic veterinary advisor, Dr. Todd Cooney DVM CVH, likes to give one dose of the Combo Nosode when the protocol is first initiated, followed weekly by the individual nosodes as appropriate for the risk factors in that particular area.
What are tautodes and when should I use them?
Tautodes are homeopathic remedies made from the actual vaccine—not the virus. They are used to:
- Prevent or treat vaccinosis (vaccine-related illness)
- Support detox after required vaccines (e.g., rabies for travel)
Tautodes are ultra-diluted, non-toxic, and safe. They do not replace required vaccines like rabies, but they can help mitigate side effects.
