Cedar oil blocks the octopamine neurotransmitter receptors in pests, causing them to be repelled from the area. Mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and beneficial insects are not affected by cedar oil because they do not have octopamine neurotransmitters.

In our experience, we have found this product to be extremely effective at killing fleas, ticks and other biting insects without the use of harmful poisonous pesticides. We do not use traditional heartworm preventatives due to the high risk of damage, seizures and even death. These risks are well documented. We live in an area where mosquitoes are active nearly year-round and have observed that adding a small amount of Young Living Essential Oils to the bottle deters biters from even landing on our pets. This recipe works even for our older, immune-compromised or sick pets.

Cedarcide All-Purpose Bug Spray is the same as original Cedarcide, but is water-based. It can be used on plants, whereas original Cedarcide is not recommended for use on plants. Most humans prefer this formulation because it doesn't use an oil-based emulsifier, so feels very light on the skin. It doesn't last as long as original Cedarcide, so application around every 3-4 hours should suffice on humans.
